Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an D. Our nursing score includes several factors, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This place averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place fared well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we analyzed is long-term care, where this facility was given an F. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 78.97436 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was short-term care, where this facility received a poor score here also. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is definitely a major concern. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is generally a fair measure of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Given its poor score in this area, we were not stunned to find this nursing home provided substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics was damning for this facility's short-term care score.
