Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category typically have few of these severe deficiencies. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple relatively minor deficiencies aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
We also would like to emphasize the fact that this facility was given an elite score of A in our short-term care area. In computing our short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to create a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. In calculating our nursing scores, we assess both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving residents more frequently.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we rated was long-term care. This facility was given a very good long-term care grade this year, with a C. While this was not quite as dominant as a few of its other scores, this is nevertheless a respectable score in that category. Our long-term care grades are more important for residents requiring more conventional services associated with personal care. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility provided the vaccine to 96.410255 percent of its patients, which is a very solid percentage. This place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
