Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out the fact that this facility has received nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some can be relatively minor. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an A. When calculating a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses are caring for residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was dominant in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Very few nursing homes fared better in this category. In the category of short-term care, we strive to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our last area, this nursing home received a high-end long-term care grade. We gave it a grade of A- in that area, giving this facility straight A's. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are kept in good health. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 94.618835 percent of its patients. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths for the senior population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
