Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Our nursing rating includes a variety of subcategories. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Contributing to its superb resume, this nursing home also excelled in our short-term care category. In fact, it received a score of A in that category. Short-term care scores are crucial for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 5 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

We also wanted to point out this nursing home's nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them a grade of B+ in this category. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 97.95918 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
