Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our shot-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. In calculating our short-term care scores, we size up a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is often a fair assessment of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home provided information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In that category, we gave this facility an A-. Our nursing score focuses on the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the next category, this nursing home also earned a grade of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average score in this category. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 94.660194 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Finishing off its impressive profile, this nursing home also performed a high level in inspections. It earned a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in that category with a B+. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, this nursing home received a category L deficiency, which was not what we expected based on its inspection grade. This category indicates CMS discovered a widespread deficiency putting resident health or safety in imminent danger. In spite of this major red flag, other aspects of this facility's inspection report gave us some hope.
