Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B for our long-term care rating. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.15966 percent of its patients. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
This place actually performed well in inspections also. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is a fairly impressive grade. Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Surprisingly, this place was assessed a category L deficiency, which was not what we expected given its inspection rating. These are the most concerning deficiencies. This category of deficiency means CMS identified a widespread deficiency placing patient safety or health in imminent jeopardy. While other aspects of this nursing home's inspection report were favorable, we have some reservations.

Short-term Care Quality
Our next category we assessed is short-term care, where this nursing home was given an F. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.6 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
Nurse Quality
The next category we analyzed is nursing, in which this facility was given a poor score in this category as well. It received a lowly F in this category, which is obviously very concerning. Our nursing score weighs a variety of subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. To go along with its below average total nursing hours per patient, this place had really poor scores in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in determining our nursing grades. For starters, we looked at the percentage of residents sustaining falls leading to serious injury. This facility was at more than 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
