Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

It should also be noted that this nursing home's inspection score outpaced its overall score. We awarded it a B+ for its inspections grade, which is a very solid score. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we also would like to point out that this facility was given positive long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a B. This proved to be the nursing home's second highest score. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are well cared for. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. This facility provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a somewhat alarming figure as it is well below average. Finally, while this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this metric.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Our next area is short-term care, in which we gave this facility a grade of C in this area. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below average.
