Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to note its decent government inspections in recent years. We awarded it a somewhat respectable score of B- in that category. Our inspection grades are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we awarded this facility an B-. There are a number of factors within this category. Many of the datapoints reflect staffing levels. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the number of hours of care offered.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the category of short-term care, this nursing home received just a D in this category. In the category of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Based on its poor score in this area, we weren't surprised to find that this place provided significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final item we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.2 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed is long-term care, ended up being this nursing home's least impressive area. We gave this facility a D in this category. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the data points we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to only 82.84314 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
