Facility Inspections
While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it actually received a relatively impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our more favorable grades in that category with a B+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively minor. Although this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility just a D for our short-term care score and that actually ended up being its second best category. Short-term care grades are important for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a grade of this caliber for this area, we weren't surprised to learn that this place was well below average in two of the key staffing metrics we assess. In fact, it supplied significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. Nursing grades are mostly associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our final area, this nursing home really didn't fare well in this area either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Nursing homes that do not score well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility gave the vaccine to only 58.723404 percent of its patients, which is somewhat alarming. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
