Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A+ for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's higher category grades was in the area of long-term care. This proved to be its second most favorable category. In that area, we gave this nursing home a C. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. We were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated 66.666664 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly below the national average. Nevertheless, this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade analyzes many components, however, the main one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last category, this nursing home really did not perform well here either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a grade of this caliber for this category, we were not surprised to find this facility was well below average in multiple staffing figures we looked at. The nursing home supplied substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.3 percent of its residents returning home.
