Facility Inspections

Grade: B

While we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid government inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B in this category, which is much better than its overall score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's short-term care score ended up being one of its better features. The facility received a B- in this area. In our short-term care rating, we strive to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. In fact, it provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. When computing our nursing ratings, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This place averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day, which is not an impressive total. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we analyzed was long-term care, where this facility received a bottom of the barrel grade in this category as well. We gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is obviously somewhat alarming. Facilities that do not score well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit worried that this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 78.82736 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
