Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of faring well overall, this facility received a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that area with an A+. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area usually have few severe deficiencies. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Nursing ratings are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This place provides an incredible 4.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Out of this total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. On top of offering high levels of care, this place was also above average in each of the major quality measures we looked at in this category. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on our next category, this facility was awarded a top-shelf long-term care grade. In fact, it received a grade of A- in that category. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 94.2953 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.62 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we looked at was short-term care, where this nursing home was given a B. Even though this ended up being its least impressive category score, this is still a good grade. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to score a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to provide good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. One of this facility's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it provides more care from registered nurses to its patients than most facilities. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. This place performed respectably with 47 percent of its residents returning home.
