Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we gave this facility a poor overall grade, we gave it a B+ for our inspections rating. This was due to the nursing home receiving a decent inspection report this year. Our inspection grades are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. The nursing grade is based on numerous datapoints. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. With a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this place's nurse staffing levels were well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Additionally, we gave this nursing home an F in the area of long-term care. Facilities that don't fare well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 81.75788 percent of its patients. This is pretty significantly lower than what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we analyzed was short-term care, where this nursing home was given an abysmal grade in this category as well. Sadly, it received an F in this area, which is definitely very concerning. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. As you might expect, we discovered that this nursing home offers significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the average nursing home. The final measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.7 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
