Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Our inspection grades are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second highest category is short-term care, but even there it earned just a D in that area. This turns out to be a relatively poor score. Short-term care grades are often used to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Based on its score in this area, we were not surprised to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The final metric we considered in this category is the number of residents that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.5 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below average.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Our nursing grade analyzes several datapoints, but the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is long-term care, where this facility was given a bottom of the barrel score in this category as well. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is obviously a major concern. Nursing homes that do not score well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated just 33.333336 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
