In addition to receiving a great overall score, this nursing home also earned an A+ inspection rating. This score is based on the facility's recent government inspections. An A+ in this category is one of the highest complements we can pay to a nursing home. Inspection grades are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In addition, this nursing home was given superb marks in the category of long-term care. For this reason, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a grade of A+. Facilities that do well in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

We also wanted to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received a first-rate grade of A- in our short-term care category. In determining our short-term care grades, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is frequently a useful measure of the facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists.
