Facility Inspections
In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also performed well in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Very few facilities performed as well in this category. Our inspection scores are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Another reason we rated this nursing home so highly is that it was awarded an A+ long-term care grade. This is flat out as good as it gets in this category. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death ailment for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
