To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Our inspection grades weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this area typically have very few of these severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This grade is considered to be a solid assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information on vaccination rates. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
The last area we rated is nursing, where this facility received a B+. This completed an elite report card. Few nursing homes received a B+ or higher in each of our categories. Our nursing category includes quite a few components, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area.
