Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its favorable overall grade, we gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home really excelled in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A-. Not many facilities performed better in this category. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are kept in good health. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 96.56489 percent of its residents, which is higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. This facility didn't perform quite as well in this category as it did in some other categories. Nevertheless, this is still a respectable score. Nursing grades are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This figure is far below the national average. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. While this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this area. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a policy of moving residents more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final category we looked at was short-term care. We gave it a grade of C in this category. This is a fair grade in this area. Our short-term care grades are believed to be more critical for people requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
