Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this facility also fared well in our long-term care category, where it earned an A+. Few facilities performed better in this category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 86.757996 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is somewhat less than we expected but still a decent percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we gave this facility a grade of A for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. The nursing score consists of several subcategories, but the primary consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we scored is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of B-. Even though this wound up being its lowest category rating, this is nevertheless a middle of the pack score. Our short-term care grades are vital for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.
