Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we didn't grade this nursing home favorably overall, we actually gave it an excellent grade in the category of inspections, where it received an A-. Our inspection ratings are tied to datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities second most favorable category is long-term care. We awarded it a C in this area. This is essentially a middle of the pack score in this area. Our long-term care grade focuses on a nursing home's personal care instead of the highly skilled nursing and medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 92.56198 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is somewhat lower than we anticipated but still a decent figure. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this nursing home's third best category was short-term care. Nevertheless, with a grade of D in this area, it still fared somewhat badly. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. With its score in this area, we were not surprised to find that this place was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The next category we analyzed was nursing. This nursing home received a rock bottom grade of F in that area. There are several criteria within this area. Most of these criteria are tied to nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
