Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In addition, this facility also was awarded favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. In fact, we awarded it one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. Our short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. This facility excelled at the highest level in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It offered about 50% more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than the average nursing home. This is an excellent sign. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
The last area we scored was nursing, where this nursing home was given a B+. This rounded out a very favorable profile. Few nursing homes earned a B+ or better in each of our categories. When calculating our nursing grades, we look at both staffing levels and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided 8.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is among the higher figures in the country. A significant portion of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the more skilled levels of nurses. We are very impressed by these figures. In addition to providing impressive levels of nursing care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we assessed. For example, it performed as well as any nursing home in the country in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these metrics as predictive measures of the quality of nursing care provided.
