Facility Inspections
While this facility's overall grade was not bad, it really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. Our inspection scores are tied to several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. Nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an B-. When determining our nursing grades, we analyze both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a low total compared to most facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we analyzed is short-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a solid grade of B-. In computing our short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to formulate a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The more important thing is determining what effect this had on the quality of care. The final item we considered in this area is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Our last area is long-term care, in which we awarded this facility a C in this category. Long-term care grades are based in part on the facility's volume of nursing services. This means a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 99.62686 percent of its residents against pneumonia. This place also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
