Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also surprised to learn that this facility received a decent short-term care rating in our assessment. We gave it a grade of C in this area. Our short-term care ratings are thought to be more critical for those requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The real question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Nursing scores are tied to nurse staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the next category, this nursing home really did not fare very well in this area either. Due to a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 98.40426 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place also keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
