Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Inspection grades are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. In addition to having severe deficiencies, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the category of long-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in this area. Unfortunately, this ended up being its second best grade. Facilities that don't fare well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. After looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 93.63296 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is somewhat lower than we anticipated but still a decent figure. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Sadly, this facility received an F for its short-term care grade. Short-term care grades are often used to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't surprised to find that this facility was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its residents returning home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The next category we graded is nursing. This facility received a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this area. Our nursing score is based on a variety of data points. The most heavily weighted factor is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
