Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this facility performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also received a favorable long-term care grade. Indeed, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this category. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 90.243904 percent of its patients. This is slightly lower than we were hoping for. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. Our nursing score is based on many components, however, the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we analyzed was short-term care, in which we gave it an above average grade of B. This facility truly didn't have any weak areas. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
