Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially would like to emphasize its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded it an impressive grade of A- in this area. Our inspection grades are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was assessed 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it was given a dominant short-term care grade. In fact, short-term care turned out to be its second highest category score. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a score of A-. Our short-term care ratings are likely most meaningful for residents requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. It outperformed the overwhelming majority of nursing homes in the country with 61.1 percent of its patients returning home.

This facility vaccinated 93.396225 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit less than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 2.48 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric was better than the majority of nursing homes since it had more complicated patients.
