Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The primary reason this nursing home received a decent overall grade is its impeccable government inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our better grades in that area, with a grade of A-. This is a notably better score than the place's overall grade, which was decent but not in the elite range. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of B- in this category. Nursing scores are primarily associated with the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category ended up being short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B-. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next area we graded is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a C in that area. Long-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's amount of nursing services. This includes a broad range of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 92.2043 percent of its patients. This is slightly less than we were hoping for but still a decent figure. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
