Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was terrible, it fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B+ for that area, which is one of our better scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the area of short-term care, this facility was given just a D in this category. As it turns out, this ended up being its second best grade. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to create a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Given its score in this area, we were not stunned to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. The nursing score is based on a host of datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This facility provided only 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we rated was long-term care. It received a lowly F in this category, which is an abysmal grade. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care ratings. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
