Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home really excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Very few nursing homes performed more favorably in this area. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. The nursing rating weighs many subcategories. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients. This place averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is a very low figure. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we scored was long-term care. This nursing home was given a grade of B- for the area. In the area of long-term care, we assess the quantity of care provided by a facility, as opposed to more sophisticated services. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 96.52406 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable figure. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
