Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received a strong grade of A- in our short-term care area. Our short-term care scores are important for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this area is the number of residents that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also above average in the area of long-term care, where it was given a score of B+. It performed more favorably than most facilities in this area. When facilities receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 97.48859 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a proven method to avoid unnecessary deaths for the aged 65 and up population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category we scored, this facility was given a very favorable grade of B+ in our nursing category. With this score, the nursing home rounded out a very favorable report card. Our nursing grade is primarily tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed better than average in this area. This is often a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
