Registered Staff Hours
While we gave this place a poor overall score, we gave it a grade of B+ for our inspections category. This is the result of the facility receiving a quality inspection report this year. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't grade out terribly in the area of long-term care. Indeed, we gave it a C in that category, which wound up being another one of its more respectable scores. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care ratings. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. We were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated 74.10072 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be quite a bit lower than what we were hoping for. Nevertheless, this nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.07 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home ended up receiving a bottom of the barrel grade in our short-term care category. It was given a lowly F in this category. In our short-term care score, we attempt to forge a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Not surprisingly, we learned that this facility provides far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical facility. The last metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.9 percent of its patients returning home.
Moving on to the last area, this nursing home did not fare very well in this area either. With a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. With only 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below the national average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
