Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of earning a strong overall score, this facility performed even better in our inspections category which is based on the facility's recent government inspections. In fact, we gave it an A for this category, which is one of our highest grades. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also gave this facility a grade of A for our short-term care grade. Short-term care grades are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. The nursing rating weighs several datapoints, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to the next category, this facility was awarded a respectable long-term care rating. Even though this is not nearly as impressive as a few of its other scores, this is truly not a terrible score. In the category of long-term care, we focus more on the amount of services offered by a nursing home, rather than more medically-intensive services. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
