Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was awarded impressive scores in the area of long-term care as well. Consequently, we gave it one of our most superb grades in that area with a area of A-. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 89.81481 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be a few points less than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of B- in this category is by no means a bad score. Our nursing rating considers many datapoints. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures. While this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of these quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this subcategory. This is typically a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving patients more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed was short-term care, in which this nursing home received a B-. This actually proved to be this facility's least impressive area. This is still not a poor grade. In calculating these short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to devise a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.
