Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are well cared for. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 81.41593 percent of its patients, which is somewhat below what we anticipated. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, at least this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also earned an A+ inspection score, making it one of the few places to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. This is based on the place's recent inspections. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. This facility didn't perform quite as well in this category as it did in some other categories. Nevertheless, this is still a respectable score. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses at the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses worked with residents, in calculating our rating in this category. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a place has quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care, which ended up being this nursing home's worst area. It received an abysmal F in this category, which is obviously somewhat concerning. In the area of short-term care, we strive to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Unfortunately, we learned that this facility offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics sunk this facility's short-term care grade.
