Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. There are many criteria within this area. Most of these criteria are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's next most favorable score is long-term care, but it nevertheless earned just a D in that category. This ended up being a relatively poor score. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 77.45358 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Our next category we assessed is short-term care, in which this nursing home was given an F. Short-term care scores are important for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Given its abysmal score in this area, we weren't stunned to find this place provided substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

In our last category of inspections, this nursing home received a terrible score. We weight this category more heavily than our other categories. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection grade. We suggest you pay close attention to the level of severity of the deficiencies. This facility was assessed 6 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
