Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we gave this facility an A+ for our inspection category. Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was dominant in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Only a select group of nursing homes fared better in this category. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 85.40373 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. There are many subcategories included in this area. Most of the factors are tied to nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In our final area, we gave this facility an A+ for its short-term care grade. This topped off a first-rate report card. In determining these short-term care scores, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to formulate a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who returned home from this facility. We found that 6.9 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
