Long-term Care Quality
Even though we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B for our long-term care rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall score. Without this grade, this place's profile would have been even worse. Facilities that do well in this category tend to provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of B- for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade is primarily associated with a facility's nurse staffing. This place averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In fact, it performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second worse category was short-term care, where it received just a D in that category. This is a well below average grade. Short-term care scores are meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a score in this range for this category, we weren't shocked to learn that this facility was below average in multiple staffing figures we assess. In fact, it supplied far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
Facility Inspections
Looking to our final category of inspections, we gave this facility a just D, which is a relatively poor grade. Our inspection score is based on the nursing home's government inspection reports. Since this data is compiled by government inspectors, we place significant weight on it in our overall grades. Our inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Generally, you should be especially cautious when considering a facility with severe deficiencies on a recent inspection report. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they created a risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility also received 18 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
