Even though we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B for our long-term care rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall score. Without this grade, this place's profile would have been even worse. Facilities that do well in this category tend to provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. In fact, it performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term care scores are meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
