Facility Inspections
Although we were not complementary of this place's overall performance, it did receive an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second highest category was its long-term care grade, where it received a B-. Long-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of nursing services. This includes a vast range of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this facility gave the vaccine to just 87.05036 percent of its patients, which is slightly concerning. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Our nursing grade is primarily associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, nursing scores also consider quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses aids to assist its patients.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed is short-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area, which is a very poor grade. Short-term care grades are often used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must provide better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Given its abysmal score in this category, we were not shocked to learn that this facility offers substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
