Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility really excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Few facilities performed better in this area. Our inspection scores are tied to many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

This facility also performed well in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which happens to be one of our highest scores. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This grade is generally a useful assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 6.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. Nursing grades are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This place averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, which is a very low figure. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's least impressive category is long-term care, which is the last category we analyzed. For this area, we awarded this facility an D. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated just 81.15942 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
