Facility Inspections
In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place really excelled in the category of inspections, where it earned a grade of A-. Few facilities performed better in this category. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of C. Our nursing grade is primarily based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this metric.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's third best area was long-term care. We gave it a C in this category. This is basically a middle of the pack grade in this area. Long-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of nursing services. This includes a broad spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility administered the vaccine to 96.666664 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable statistic. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth category, we awarded this facility a grade of D in our short-term care category. This was the nursing home's worst category rating. In crafting these short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to devise a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Considering its abysmal grade in this area, we were not surprised to discover that this facility provides significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
