Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong nursing home overall, this nursing home excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A-. Few facilities performed better in that area. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it was given a grade of B+. It performed better than most nursing homes in this category. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 81.29496 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is a few points less than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, at least this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of B- in this category is by no means a bad score. Our nursing score is largely tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded is short-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in that area. This is a fair grade in this category. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 4.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
