Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home excelled in our short-term care category, with an A- in this area. This really boosted its overall score. Short-term care grades are critical for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. An additional reason we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received an A+ nursing score. Our nursing score analyzes the facility's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of skill of the nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

The final area we looked at was long-term care, was this facility's least impressive area. We gave this facility a D in this area. This was one of the couple of weak points in a strong report card. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes offer. This is its best score in this category.
