Facility Inspections
On top of faring well overall, this facility earned nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A+. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Nursing ratings are largely based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving a patient at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning our next category, we gave this facility a score of A- for its long-term care grade. This is a dominant rating. Facilities that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The fourth category we rated is short-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of A-. This topped off a very strong report card. Few facilities earned an A- or higher in in each area we assessed. In our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this area is the number of patients that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 4.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
