Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Although we were not high on this nursing home's overall grade, it earned an impressive short-term care score this year. We awarded it a grade of B+ in this category, which proved to be a rare glimmer of hope in its profile. With our short-term care score, we seek to create a fair measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. We weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. We found that 6.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of C. Nursing grades are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This particular facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This figure is far below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of long-term care, this facility was awarded just a D in this area. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 92.42424 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

The final category we looked at is inspections. This facility did not receive positive government inspections in recent years. As a result, we had to give it an F in this category. For facilities with poor inspection scores, you should focus on any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This generally indicates that the deficiencies identified by the government inspectors had potential to pose actual harm to residents.
