Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its favorable overall score, we awarded this place an A+ for our inspection category. Inspection scores are based on many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. We scrutinized the licensure of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses spent with residents, in calculating our grade in this area. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In the third area we assessed, this nursing home received superb marks in the category of long-term care. Consequently, it was given one of our highest grades in that category with a of A+. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category we analyzed, this facility received a very favorable grade of A- in our short-term care category. With this grade, the nursing home finished off a straight A profile. Our short-term care grade is typically used to assess a facility's rehabilitation services. To provide quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
