In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, it also received A+ inspections recently. Its inspections were virtually perfect. Our inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. We weren't able to locate deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Nursing scores are largely associated with the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at a few quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home excelled in these areas, with excellent scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care a nursing home provides.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning our third area, this facility was given a strong long-term care score. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that category. Facilities that do well in this category typically provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 98.958336 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was short-term care. This nursing home was awarded an impressive short-term care grade in our assessment, with a B-. Even though this is not quite as good as a few of its other grades, this is nevertheless a respectable grade for that area. Our short-term care grades are arguably more critical for individuals requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 23.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of patients return home so this place is below average.
