Facility Inspections
Although we didn't grade this nursing home favorably overall, we actually gave it an excellent score in the area of inspections, where it received an A-. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid nursing homes that had a long list of deficiencies. This place was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
One of this nursing home's higher category grades was in the area of short-term care. This turned out to be its second best category. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are believed to be most meaningful for folks in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. In fact, it provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. In determining a nursing home's nursing score, we assess the number of hours nurses spend with patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This place offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed is long-term care, where this facility received a rock bottom score in this category as well. It received a lowly F in this category, which is obviously very concerning. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 98.2699 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
