On top of receiving a great overall grade, this facility fared even better in the area of inspections which is based on the nursing home's recent inspections. We gave it an A for this category, which is one of our highest scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor dings aren't something to panic about.

Long-term Care Quality

This nursing home also was awarded a strong long-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it an above average score of B in this category. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 98.0456 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a life threatening health condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not leave this to chance. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

This facility's next highest category turned out to be short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B-. Short-term care grades are vital for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. This means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that returned home from this facility. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.
