Short-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it earned an A+ short-term care grade. This is as good as it gets in this area. Our short-term care ratings are presumably more important for people in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 7.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Turning to inspections, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the nursing home's inspection reports. We awarded it an A for that category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Does this page answer your questions about Forest Hill?
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Our nursing rating is largely associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our fourth category, this facility was given an excellent long-term care rating. In fact, we awarded it an A- in that category, rounding out a straight A profile. For patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 91.83673 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit lower than we expected but still a decent percentage. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
