Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

While this facility's overall grade was not bad, it really fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A+ for that category, which is one of our best scores. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor dings are not necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also received a strong score in our long-term care category. We gave this nursing home a better than average grade of B in this category. Facilities that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.62825 percent of its patients. This is a proven method to minimize negative health outcomes for the nursing home population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's third highest category turned out to be its short-term care grade, where it was given a B-. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The last category we assessed is nursing, which is this facility's weakest area. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this category, which is certainly very concerning. There are a variety of data points within this category. Many of these data points are tied to nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average nursing home.
