Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection scores are based on several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. While this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Incredibly, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our long-term care score, which isn't a bad grade. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 78.01418 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care grade. This is not one of our better scores. In forming these short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Given its score in this area, we were not surprised to discover that this nursing home is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The final area we rated is nursing, which was this nursing home's weakest area. We gave this facility a grade of D in this category. There are several factors within this category. Most of the subcategories relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This place offered only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This place performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
