Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Neither this place's overall grade nor its category grades gave us much to highlight here. Its best category was long-term care, but even there it received just a D. This is still a well below average grade. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility vaccinated 98.928024 percent of its residents, which is an above average statistic. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

This nursing home received a grade of just D in the area of inspections. Unfortunately, this ended up being its second best grade. One of the most critical factors in assessing inspection reports is deficiencies. We recommend you scrutinize the level of severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home was hit with one category G through L deficiency, which are among the more serious deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies uncovered by CMS had the potential to cause actual harm to residents. Finally, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home was assessed large government fines of over $100,000. This often means that a nursing home'sbad track record has been an issue for several years.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. In determining our nursing scores, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This place offered a meager 0.1 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we rated is short-term care. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that category. Our short-term care ratings are likely more important for those in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we discovered that this place provides significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients that returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
