Even though this place's overall score was abysmal, it actually didn't perform terribly in our short-term care rating. We awarded it a B- for that category, which is a decent score. However, this was not enough to spare its profile. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. We were surprised to find that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. The facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last measure we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 6.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

This facility didn't perform horribly in the area of inspections. We awarded it a C for that category. Other categories were the source of its rock bottom overall grade. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. This place had 7 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were in category J, K or L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to place resident health or safety in immediate harm or jeopardy. On top of having severe deficiencies, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

This place offered a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

The next area we assessed was long-term care, in which this facility received a bottom of the barrel score in this area also. We gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 99.85141 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
